Pizza Dough

A basic pizza dough

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1 teaspoons white sugar

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 2 1/2 cups flour

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

  • In a medium bowl, mix yeast and water and sugar.
  • Let the water mixture stand until it gets creamy, about 10 minutes.
  • Note: if the water mixture doesn't get creamy, or doesn't smell yeast-y, the yeast might be too old to use. This is rare, but try again with new yeast if it seems like it'll be an issue.
  • Stir the flour, salt, and oil into the water and yeast mixture. Beat with a fork until smooth and dough-y.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into your final pizza shape.
  • Grab a pizza pan, and rub a small amount of olive oil on it to get it greasy.
  • Transfer your dough onto the pan, and reshape it as needed.
  • Add toppings. Preheat oven to 450˚ Fahrenheit.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
